MoonFruit Review Compare all Website Builder Products
Summary :

Having used the Moonfruit website builder it becomes clear that it doesn’t really know where to place itself in the market. The prices charged for the plans and the features offered as standard would suggest that this product would be aimed at the more experienced user however once you are in the editor everything seems a bit basic and aimed towards an unexperienced web user. Everything else is to a good standard and once it finds its identity it could become a very competent website builder.

Value for Money :

Moonfruit offer a wide range of options starting with the ‘free’ plan that offers the standard low storage, branded package. You can remove branding and add storage if you upgrade to the ‘lite’ plan which starts at $5.40/month. All plans offer E-Commerce with additional items sold the more you pay for your plan. There are some more robust plans on offer that range all the way up to $31.50/month, however other than increased storage and additional domain names there isn’t a lot of difference between the top 3 plans. We think the ‘standard’ plan offers the best value for money, avoid the ‘max’ plan at all costs.

Editor :

The website editor is a true drag and drop editor which gives you free rein on what you can move and where. Once you are used to the size of the font etc the way everything works is self-
explanatory and easy enough to pick up. The guidelines outlining what will appear on your website aren’t visible so placing pictures and text can be a bit of a lottery. The editor differentiates the elements of your site which are appear across all of you pages well, not allowing you to edit them without warning but then mirroring your changes site wide if you choose to. All in all the Moonfruit editor feels a little dated and crashes too often leaving you with no option but to log out and back in again.

Templates :

Moonfruits template viewer isn’t the easiest to find, you stumble across it on the home page but once you are un the site gallery you are presented with around 70 designs which on the whole are decent designs with a nice wide range of categories to choose from.

Additional Features :

As previously mentioned Moonfruit offer a good E-Commerce package across all plan, a nice touch considering most of the competition charge a premium for online shops. There are all of the common features you would expect from a website builder as well as a nice mobile editing feature. There aren’t any bolt-ons to mention or an app store there are only the additional products for the web shop and additional domains which are included in the more expensive plans.

Guides and Customer Service :

There aren’t any guides upon entering the editor however there is a useful help tab that offers guides, tutorials and a helpful walkthrough.
Customer support is offered by way of a support line (for free and paid users) and a ticket support system. These are all very helpful and queries are dealt with quickly.
